What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive complementary therapy that I offer to help you relax, unwind and restore a sense of balance and wellbeing.

During a Reiki session, I place my hands lightly on or just above your body while you rest comfortably. Many of my clients describe leaving their session feeling calmer, more relaxed and refreshed.

Where did Reiki originate?

Reiki originated in Japan in the early 20th century and was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui.

The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words:

Rei – meaning Universal

Ki – meaning Life Energy

Today, Reiki is practised around the world as a complementary therapy that focuses on relaxation, wellbeing and supporting the body's natural ability to restore balance.

What happens during a Reiki session?

When you arrive, I'll take a few minutes to chat with you about how you're feeling and answer any questions you may have before your treatment begins.

You'll then lie fully clothed on a comfortable treatment couch, covered with a cosy blanket. I gently place my hands on or just above different areas of your body while you simply relax.

A typical Reiki session lasts between 50 and 60 minutes.

Do I stay fully clothed?

Yes.

You'll remain fully clothed throughout your Reiki session. I simply recommend wearing comfortable clothing so you can relax completely.

What should I wear?

Comfort is the most important thing.

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is ideal so you can fully relax throughout your treatment.

Will I be touched during the session?

I use gentle hand placements either on or just above the body.

If you would prefer not to be touched at any stage, simply let me know before we begin. Your comfort, privacy and preferences are always respected.

What might I experience during Reiki?

Everyone experiences Reiki differently.

Some people notice warmth, tingling or a deep sense of relaxation. Others simply enjoy the quiet time and may even drift off to sleep.

Some people don't notice any particular sensations during their session, and that's perfectly normal too.

There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.

Will I fall asleep?

You might!

Many of my clients become so relaxed that they drift into a light sleep during their treatment. This is completely normal and simply shows that your body is relaxing.

Can Reiki help with stress?

Many people come to me because they want time to slow down and switch off from the pressures of everyday life.

While everyone's experience is different, many clients tell me they leave feeling calmer, more balanced and deeply relaxed.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace medical treatment or advice from your doctor or healthcare provider.

Is Reiki suitable for everyone?

Reiki is a gentle complementary therapy that many people enjoy.

If you're pregnant, have a medical condition or are receiving treatment from a healthcare professional, I'm happy to discuss your individual circumstances before your appointment.

Reiki should always complement—not replace—the advice and care provided by your doctor or healthcare team.

Do you use reflexology during a Reiki session?

Sometimes.

If appropriate, and only with your permission, I may incorporate gentle reflexology points on the feet as part of your Reiki session.

This is entirely your choice, and we'll discuss it together before we begin.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on you and your individual needs.

Some people visit for a single session to enjoy time to relax, while others choose regular appointments as part of their ongoing self-care routine.

I'm always happy to discuss what feels right for you, without any pressure or obligation.

How much does a Reiki session cost?

A Reiki session costs €50 and lasts approximately 50–60 minutes.

Where are you located?

I'm based in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, where I've created a peaceful, welcoming space for you to relax, unwind and take some time for yourself.

Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?

No.

Many people come to their first session simply because they're curious or looking for a way to relax. You don't need any previous experience or special beliefs to enjoy a Reiki session.

My aim is to provide a calm, welcoming space where you can simply rest, relax and take some time for yourself.

What should I do after my Reiki session?

After your session, I recommend drinking plenty of water and, if possible, taking things a little easier for the rest of the day.

Many people enjoy some quiet time after Reiki to reflect and notice how they feel. Everyone's experience is different, and I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have after your appointment.

Still have a question?
